Rental Property Description
Our two rental cottages sit on clean, spring-fed Donnell lake. There are two piers to fish from, a large grassy beach to play on, swings and lounge chairs to relax in, and a porch to sit on to enjoy the wonderful days and beautiful sunsets. The cottages rent from June to September (check the exact dates on the "current availability" posts).
All furniture, cookware, dinnerware, and appliances (including a Mr. Coffee and microwave oven) are provided. Each cottage has air conditioning, streaming television w/DVD player, picnic table, lawn chairs, and a propane grill. The "Beach House" (625 square feet) has 2 queen beds. The "Tan House" (1200 square feet) has 3 queen beds.
You must bring your own towels, sheets, and pillow covers.
A small fishing boat (no motor) is yours to chase those elusive but delicious fish. Everyone 17 years or older
MUST have a valid Michigan fishing license to fish. We provide six life jackets. Donnell Lake will accommodate speedboats, pontoons, and personal watercraft (jet ski's, wave runners, etc.), if you care to bring your own or rent them nearby. Make sure you have proper registrations and licenses as the lake is well patrolled for safety. The public access boat ramp is only six lots away and you can dock your water craft at our deep pier.
Grocery and hardware stores, fruit/vegetable stands, restaurants, and bait shops are all within 10 miles of the cottages. Area parks have walking trails and picnic areas. In Cassopolis, there are tennis and basketball courts, and a forgiving golf course. Niles and Three Rivers, Michigan plus South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana are all within a 45 minute drive, if you are looking for serious shopping or entertainment.
Donnell Lake, MI Description
Donnell is a spring fed lake, situated in southwest Michigan. The lake is very clean and clear, except when the boat traffic stirs up the silt. There is a public access with hard surface boat ramp located just a few doors down from our property. Donnell Lake is great for boating, fishing, and swimming. The fish in the lake include bluegill, yellow perch, largemouth and smallmouth bass, black crappie, and northern pike. The lake bottom is very sandy with some underwater vegetation.
